I really need OpenOffice to complete a project. I have the impression that other people have got {5.3, amd64, OO} working. Let's see if I have grokked the possibilities. WITH JAVA: - OO ~with~ Java requires JDK with patchfiles - there is no native binary distribution of JDK for FreeBSD - to build the JDK, we need patchfiles in ports/distfiles and some Sun files, an fstab entry for Linux, and Linux compatibility - Linux compatibility requires recompiling the kernel; I've done that, but I can't reboot the box just any old time -- it's a server WITHOUT JAVA: - OO ~without~ Java requires gcc32 - gcc32 fails to compile with the message, "===> gcc-3.2.3_3 does not run on amd64, and you are running amd64." - I read in the archive (January 1st message) that we could use "gcc-OOO" but all the mirrors return "File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)"; and in the same post, it was said that there would be further compiling problems with OO anyway If you have {5.3, amd64, OO} working, or can tell me what to do, for the love of G*d please mail me or post a reply. Will submit patches for food. Marko __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - Helps protect you from nasty viruses. http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail
