check this out for multi-boot OS:
   http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/faq/disks.html#NT-BOOTLOADER
  particularly
9.10. How can I use the Windows NT loader to boot FreeBSD?

so if you choose to edit the boot.ini of windows XP system file you will just have to copy from freebsd /boot/boot1

to some file and then just add it to your boot.ini. It works just fine to my laptop.
