 I've had similar problems with an Acer Ferrari 3400-LMI, which were
 resolved by setting in `/etc/rc.conf':
 
     performance_cx_lowest="HIGH"    # Online CPU idle state
     economy_cx_lowest="HIGH"        # Offline CPU idle state
 
 Can you show us the values of these settings in `/etc/defaults/rc.conf'
 and in `/etc/rc.conf' on your laptop?
