Although privoxy 3.0.6 is supposed to have a package available, it is apparently not on the FTP server(s) at freebsd.org, so trying a pkg_add -r privoxy fails. Unfortunately, when I try to use portinstall to build privoxy from source, that fails, too. Some attempts follow: Script started on Fri Dec 29 14:39:52 2006 hellas# portinstall -v privoxy ---> Session started at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:40:00 -0600 ---> Upgrade of www/privoxy started at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:40:01 -0600 ---> Upgrading 'privoxy-3.0.3_5' to 'privoxy-3.0.6_1' (www/privoxy) ---> Build of www/privoxy started at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:40:01 -0600 ---> Building '/usr/ports/www/privoxy' ===> Cleaning for gmake-3.81_1 ===> Cleaning for autoconf-2.53_3 ===> Cleaning for gettext-0.14.5_2 ===> Cleaning for m4-1.4.8_1 ===> Cleaning for help2man-1.36.4_1 ===> Cleaning for perl-5.8.8 ===> Cleaning for libtool-1.5.22_2 ===> Cleaning for libiconv-1.9.2_2 ===> Cleaning for p5-gettext-1.05_1 ===> Cleaning for privoxy-3.0.6_1 cd: can't cd to /usr/ports/www/privoxy/work/privoxy-3.0.6-stable *** Error code 2 1 error ** Command failed [exit code 2]: /usr/bin/script -qa /tmp/portinstall7921.0 make ** Fix the problem and try again. ---> Build of www/privoxy ended at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:40:03 -0600 (consumed 00:00:02) ---> Upgrade of www/privoxy ended at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:40:03 -0600 (consumed 00:00:02) ---> Listing the results (+:done / -:ignored / *:skipped / !:failed) ! www/privoxy (privoxy-3.0.3_5) (unknown build error) ---> Packages processed: 0 done, 0 ignored, 0 skipped and 1 failed ---> Session ended at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:40:03 -0600 (consumed 00:00:03) hellas# portinstall -v -w -W privoxy ---> Session started at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:41:03 -0600 ---> Upgrade of www/privoxy started at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:41:04 -0600 ---> Upgrading 'privoxy-3.0.3_5' to 'privoxy-3.0.6_1' (www/privoxy) ---> Build of www/privoxy started at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:41:04 -0600 ---> Building '/usr/ports/www/privoxy' cd: can't cd to /usr/ports/www/privoxy/work/privoxy-3.0.6-stable *** Error code 2 1 error ** Command failed [exit code 2]: /usr/bin/script -qa /tmp/portinstall8384.0 make ** Fix the problem and try again. ---> Build of www/privoxy ended at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:41:04 -0600 (consumed 00:00:00) ---> Upgrade of www/privoxy ended at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:41:04 -0600 (consumed 00:00:00) ---> Listing the results (+:done / -:ignored / *:skipped / !:failed) ! www/privoxy (privoxy-3.0.3_5) (unknown build error) ---> Packages processed: 0 done, 0 ignored, 0 skipped and 1 failed ---> Session ended at: Fri, 29 Dec 2006 14:41:04 -0600 (consumed 00:00:01) hellas# pushd /usr/ports/www/privoxy /usr/ports/www/privoxy /usr/ports/distfiles hellas# make extract ===> Found saved configuration for privoxy-3.0.6_1 ===> Extracting for privoxy-3.0.6_1 => MD5 Checksum OK for privoxy-3.0.6-stable-src.tar.gz. => SHA256 Checksum OK for privoxy-3.0.6-stable-src.tar.gz. I currently have privoxy 3.0.3 installed, which, when configured according to the instructions for configuring it to use tor, fails to route connections through tor. I was hoping that a more up-to-date version might work properly. Scott Bennett, Comm.
