You are running out of RAM and I have found that once the swap use starts growing, things get VERY slow. I still think something is wrong, but memory is cheap and an extra 1/2 Gig can make a huge difference. I have not seen any difference between schedulers...about the same with 4BSD and ULE. -- R.
