I very much doubt MP3 playing is going to work without an FPU. The 2300SX specifications are badly mangled by the website but appear to suggest that it needs 5V@3A - this is not especially low power and you should be able to find alternatives. FreeBSD used to support both MATH_EMULATE and GPL_MATH_EMULATE. Support was removed in July 2003 but the bits are still in the CVS repository.
