This happens to motherboard with AMD/ATI SB700 or SB750 chipset, just when the onboard RAID controller is enabled. IDE and AHCI mode are ok. The same problem appears with DragonFlyBSD 2.4.1. FreeBSD/i386, NetBSD and OpenBSD have no problem, as Linux and Windows.
