Well, I'd be happy to use drm-fbsd12.0-kmod-4.11 too   :p

The 4.16 isn't stable for me.  On two different machines, actually,
though on one of them I can mostly work around it.  So I've just stuck
with 4.11 until 5.0 or whatever's next comes around.
