Hello, I'm Fabio from Germany Berlin. I've bought and installed the FreeBSD 4.4 & 4.5 CD's. 1. But both Versions made trouble, while installing packages from the 4th CD. Most Packages from the 4th CD can't be installed. Error message is : Installing Package "xxx" failed. And after that : Package X86free 3.3.6.9 missed as a Dependency. But it is already installed. Why does that happened, and why only on the 4th CD? On the 4th CD are the gnome tools which I want to install, for alternativ office tools, but it failed. 2. In the handbook there's mentioned, that if you search an office suite there's open office. But that isn't on the CD. But on the gnome homepage there is a list of about 15 different tools, which you can use as an office suite, although these are not pit in one programm. Why is that not mentioned in the Handbook. Flightgear is an open, free Flightsimulator, why is it not on the CD's. 3. KDE on linux worked, but on FreeBSD there is only total Blackscreen, when I start KDE. When this happened, I can't switch to other consoles, because ther are also totally black. Then I have to type blind shutdown now to restart. Why and what is that? Is there any KDE Logfile, which show all the errormessages while starting and using kde? 4. Gnome makes no Problem to load, but starting "gdm", the graphical login from Gnome. Error is "Groupe nobody does not exist". But it exists. What should I do? In the gnome-desktop you can graphically konfiguring the gdm-settings. I have done that, but right? Thank you, but remeber, I would not ask, if could not help myself. And do not answer if you do not really know the answer. Some members of questions@freebsd.org gave me answers on my previous question that i should look in the handbook or they do not know the answer. Tehn don't send me an email. Many greetings, Fabio. -- GMX - Die Kommunikationsplattform im Internet. http://www.gmx.net To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
