Doh!  Sorry about that.
Thanks for pointing that out.  Here is the output from the correct command :)

>From within an aterm:

Ok... my root path is the following:

path    (/sbin /bin /usr/sbin /usr/bin /usr/games /usr/local/sbin
/usr/local/bin /usr/X11R6/bin /root/bin)

Also, just in case it makes a difference, here is my /etc/make.conf file:
