I have a slew of ppl who try to email user@sub.domain.com instead of
user@domain.com. Whenever we receive mail like that, we get a 'mx config
error, loops back to me' error.
I have tried to add the sub's to sendmail.cw, but it made no difference. I
know there must be another setting in sendmail.cf, but I cannot locate it
and the O'Reilly book doesnt really mention how to handle subdomains.

I have multible mail servers, but only mx one of them. Is this a DNS or
sendmail issue?
Any ideas?
