Hi, I saw that someone already posted something similar. I have the same problem. http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-x11/2009-December/009124.html My system is: Intel Q6600 on a ASUS Maximus X38 board with a Radeon HD 3870= . I have FreeBSD - 8.0 - STABLE - AMD64 installed. It doesn't matter which driver I use (radeon or radeonhd), my machine freezes or reboots when switching to graphical mode. Note that my xorg.conf file is ok as per "Xorg -config xorg.conf -retro": I get the grey screen an= d my mouse cursor is working correctly. Things get bad when I "xinit" or "startx". If I disable "dri" and "dri2" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf things work flawlessly. I read the list and someone else mentionned a new version of Xorg (7.6.1 I think) is due soon. Will it fix issues like the one we are having? When wil= l it be released? Like the other poster, I can work with VESA in the meantime, but I would prefer this issue fixed! Cheers! Fran=E7ois
