I'm trying to setup a ppp dialin using mgetty. I've configured AutoPPP in mgettys login.config as: /AutoPPP/ - - /etc/ppp/ppp-XylanServer1 but mgetty doesn't seem to recognize the PPP startup stream. Here is a relevant mgetty log entry: 11/11 13:29:19 aa1 mgetty: experimental test release 1.1.11-Dec16 11/11 13:29:19 aa1 check for lockfiles 11/11 13:29:19 aa1 locking the line 11/11 13:29:19 aa1 can't get group 'modem': Undefined error: 0 11/11 13:29:22 aa1 lowering DTR to reset Modem 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 send: ATS0=0Q0&D3&C1[0d] 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 waiting for ``OK'' ** found ** 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 mdm_send: 'ATI' 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 Generic Rockwell modem (56000) 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 mdm_send: 'ATI3' 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 mdm_send: 'ATI4' 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 additional info: '' 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 modem quirks: 0004 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 mdm_send: 'AT+FCLASS=2' -> ERROR 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 mdm_send: 'AT+FCLASS=2.0' -> ERROR 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 mdm_send: 'AT+FCLASS=2' -> ERROR 11/11 13:29:23 aa1 waiting... 11/11 13:31:46 aa1 waiting for ``RING'' ** found ** 11/11 13:31:46 aa1 send: ATA[0d] 11/11 13:31:46 aa1 waiting for ``CONNECT'' ** found ** 11/11 13:32:07 aa1 send: 11/11 13:32:07 aa1 waiting for ``_'' ** found ** 11/11 13:32:07 aa1 autobauding: switch to 57600 bps 11/11 13:32:23 ##### data dev=cuaa1, pid=1727, caller='none', conn='57600', name ='', cmd='/usr/bin/login', user='}#@!}!}!} }7}"}&} }*} } }%}&} }7}]{}'}"}(}"}-}# }&}*^O~}#@!}!}"} }7}"}&} }*} } }%}&} }7}]{}'}"}(}"}-}#}&||~}#@!}!}#} }7}"}&} }*} } }%}&} }7}]{}'}"}(}"}-}#}&!U~}#@!}!}$} }7}"}&} }*} } }%}&} }7}]{}'}"}(}"}-}#}& }!}3~}#@!}!}%} }4}"}&} }*} } }%}&} }7}]{}'}"}(}"^0~}#@!}!}&} }4}"}&} }*} } }%}&} }7}]{}'}"}(}"^T' As you can see, mgetty appears to have handed the PPP startup stream to login! This is running on a vanilla 2.2.6-RELEASE system. Should I upgrade the system, or can someone clue me into what I've done wrong? I'm not on -questions, please CC: me in all replies.
