Both controllers were Adaptec 2940's one was an old 1.1 and the other was a new 1.25. The HD's are Quantum Atlas 2Gigs. I have been monkeying with this too long, if I can't get it working it's back to rock stable NT. :) Has anyone run into a similar problem? One machine we have here exhibits this error... We got around it by _not_ insalling FreeBSD on a dedicated partition... 2.2.7 installed with a non-dedicated partition (using the 'compatible with other operating systems/booteasy' boot loader) worked fine... If we tried to use a dedicated partition (This would be sensible as the machine is just a 2.2.7 box made into a router) we would get "read error" when it tried to boot... If you've already tried this - let us know... -Kp To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
