I am using a SwitchView SV-4 (by Cybex), with FreeBSD 2.2.6, 2.2.7 and Windows systems. (Bought at a great price from www.libi.com.) Generally, it has been very satisfactory. Although not fully rated for this, I find (with Cybex-supplied cables) it introduces negligible degradation at 1280x1024/75Hz operation, and is useable at 1600x1200/70 Hz, although my 21" monitor is not really up to this. Note that this model is intended for desktop use. However, I have noticed some quirks, which I have not had time to try to fully resolve, or take up here or with Cybex tech support (which was quite helpful at pre-purchase time). One has to do with not being switched to a booting system during device probes, which is minor enough. The SwitchView has functions (accessed by double-tapping the keyboard control key) which are labelled as: <CTRL><CTRL>ZM<ENTER> Resychronizes the mouse. <CTRL><CTRL>MR<ENTER> Resets a computer's PS/2 mouse. <CTRL><CTRL>MW<ENTER> Resets a computer's Intellimouse. <CTRL><CTRL>Kn<ENTER> Sets keyboard scan set; n is a number 1 - 3. I've always been able to bring the system to heel with one or other of the above commands, although I'm not sure exactly what they do. In particular, the mouse reset commands cure the out-of-sync errors.
