I did not have PROBE_ALL_LUNS enabled when compiling the kernel. I tried the following with the 7880util.exe program: 1. Reduce sync down to 20 (lowest setting with ultra enabled) <no noticeable effect> 2. Disable sync <no noticeable effect> 3. Initiate wide negotiation disabled <change in messages as follows (primarily the detection of the cdrom and the Mode Sense part> (scsi0:0:0:0) Synchronous at 40.0 Mbyte/sec, offset 8. Enable disconnect turned off <no noticeable effect> 5. Disable ultra <no noticeable effect> (I have seen a few postings from people who noticed that the synchronous speed is being reported at 20.0 Mbyte/sec instead of 40.0 Mbyte/sec even though they have an Ultra adapter. I had the same problem until I used the 7880util.exe DOS utility (came on the EZ-SCSI disk 2) to enable the Ultra capability. It seems that the motherboard manufacturer disabled Ultra by default.)
