Vladamir,

Does OpenSSH *fail to allocate a pty* ... or are all of your ptys already
allocated?

I've noticed that timed-out ssh sessions hang in there and if left
unaddressed can actually render your system unreachable via ssh until it has
been rebooted; a real pain when you and the target system are a few thousand
miles apart. (-:

I frequently install a script that forcibly disconnects everyone whom has not
touched their ssh connection for N days, to preserve these valuable resources
against the forces of laziness and carelessness.

Hope this helps.
