Yes i am a 'newbie' sorta. i have experience in Unix from my former career, but am now just starting to use again and set up on my home computer. My son has loaded FreeBSD 4.8 and I am havening several problems loading different applications. Each one seems to have its own unique errors, i was thinking maybe i have messed up the OS files or we only got half a loaf when first loading it. i was thinking about upgrading to FreeBSD 5.x to make sure the core files are ok. What is the best and easiest way to upgrade from 4.8 to 5.x? What is the latest and greatest 5.x load to get? Let's start there before i begin my 1000 other questions. And just one more, is there a 'Newbie' forum I should be using instead of this one? Steve in Charlotte...
