Don't have an iMac :)  I wouldn't but an iMac to run UNIX either, I'd just
get a PowerMac G3 (PowerPC 750-based) job.  It's unfortunate FreeBSD does
not have a PPC port (not even in the works I don't think), because I'd
imagine it'd perform rather well.
