I am having an issue where the system is very slow to respond to network
requests on port 25, 110 and 23.

It is an interment issue and the service always works if the calling client
does not time out before the response is sent. I am running ipop3d on port
110 and Sendmail on 25. Telnetd on 23.

I looked into DNS response as in the past I have had some issues there, but
it seems to be working well and very fast at this time, however my internal
network clients do not have entries in DNS.

I have the response problem with any client, Outlook, Eudora, or a Telnet
client calling on the port 25 or 110 ports. Once the connection is up it is
very fast.

Thank you,

Derek Bottles
