The next step would be to advise of cruft left around after turning on knobs. Something mergemaster could be expanded to do. Shouldn't happen automagically. One can be prompted and have a choice of options or like mergemaster currently does for files that only exist in the installed system. A good enchancement and one step closer to a truly modular system.
