Hello. I'm not sure this is a FreeBSD problem (as opposed to an hardware problem), since I've had no chance to test on different OSes... I've got a WD RED 3TB SATA drive and it won't work if attached as an external drive. I first tried with an USB-to-SATA adapter (which has always worked with different HDs) on a 10.2/i386 and I got: > Apr 16 09:04:51 alamar kernel: da7 at umass-sim1 bus 1 scbus10 target 0 lun 0 > Apr 16 09:04:51 alamar kernel: da7: <WDC WD30 EFRX-68EUZN0 > Fixed Direct Access SPC-3 SCSI device > Apr 16 09:04:51 alamar kernel: da7: Serial Number 000001D91CC4 > Apr 16 09:04:51 alamar kernel: da7: 40.000MB/s transfers > Apr 16 09:04:51 alamar kernel: da7: 2861588MB (5860533168 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 364801C) > Apr 16 09:04:51 alamar kernel: da7: quirks=0xa<NO_6_BYTE,4K> > ... > Apr 16 09:04:51 alamar kernel: (da7:umass-sim1:1:0:0): READ(10). The drive works perfectly on three different computers if connected on the SATA controller on the MB. Any hint? At least knowing if it's an hardware or FreeBSD limitation could help me get on the right track. bye & Thanks av.
