The libdes links were: libdes.a -> libcrypto.a libdes.so -> libcrypto.so.2 libdes.so.3 -> libcrypto.so.2 libdes_p.a -> libcrypto_p.a Following your advice, I created the following links: libdes.so -> libcrypto.so libdes.so.2 -> libcrypto.so.2 libdes.so.3 -> libcrypto.so.3 When I rebuild pidentd, all was well.
