I just tried booting off a fresh NetBSD 4.0 i386 CD. The result looks to me as if the card is recognized, but the stock kernel does not have a driver to attach to it. Here are the related parts from NetBSDs dmesg output with verbosity enabled, as there is currently no easy way to get the whole dmesg output from the ThinkPad to a networked machine...
