It sure sounds as if you are missing a supported USB device :( Unfortunately, it is not at all uncommon for manufacturers to make significant internal changes to a product, without changing the name or the packaging. At least they changed the version label. Doing a descriptor dump, and posting the results to freebsd-usb@, might find someone who knows how to get that particular device to work.
