I just re-installed FreeBSD 4.1.1 again (it's new machine, it needs 
the exercise) but this time chose Boot Manager (not used in the 
failed install), as I always have in the past, and FreeBSD finds the 
partition table ok and boots, as it always has in the past.

So is 4.1.1 non-Boot Manager partitioning busted?
