My configure log says: ... checking ffmpeg/avcodec.h presence... yes checking for ffmpeg/avcodec.h... yes checking libavcodec/avcodec.h usability... no checking libavcodec/avcodec.h presence... no checking for libavcodec/avcodec.h... no checking for pkgconfig support for libavcodec... no checking for avcodec_thread_init in -lavcodec... yes ... And the configure process finished normally. My version of ffmpeg is 2007.10.04, rather old. So I think the line checking for avcodec_thread_init in -lavcodec... yes is critical. And where does your libavcodec/avcodec.h come from ?
