Oh I forgot to mention when I use zfs import -fFX the crashes of the
kernel as the same everytime - out of memory (ie panics in an
alloc/trying ot alloc) 32G of RAM on the box.

Found up a 32G stick, downloading the latest 11.0 snapshot currently... 
(12/2014 - on *.de servers)
