Yes, the correct netmask is 255.255.255.0.

Also, I fixed my problem.
I added

defaultgateway=&#8221;GATEWAY.IP.ADDRESS&#8221; 

to /etc/rc.conf. The only problem is that I had to reboot for it to take affect.

How do I get my system to reread from /etc/rc.conf without rebooting?
