I hadn't really thought of that. In this case it's an optional data file that has the hard coded path and the script also looks for a file in ${HOME}, so they could get by. The method I used just seemed to be somewhat heavy handed. -- I've always wanted to be a dilettante, but I've never quite been ready to make the commitment.
