There are a couple of variants and rumblings of backward compatibility with ISO 9660 with at least one variant. You can download the latest spec from OSTA at: http://www2.osta.org/osta/html/ostatech.html I also found Jim Talor's "DVD Demystified" (McGraw-Hill) very useful as an introduction to DVD.
