If this is the wrong list, please point me in the right direction.
I replaced my 11b wireless with an 11g (Atheros) card when I upgraded my
home server this weekend. Among other things, I upgraded to 5.2-RELEASE and
replaced the old Netgear MA311 with the WG311, in the hopes of having an 11g
access point. Everything else works fine except for the hostap part.
Previously, the MA311 worked rather well under 4.9.
I have been unable to get my Win2K laptop using a WG511 card with the latest
drivers to connect to the access point. Initially, with an older set of
Win2K drivers, the laptop would be able to connect for a second or two at
11Mbps, and then it would drop the connection. This back and forth would
continue indefinitely. Now, with the latest drivers, the card sees the
access point but does not associate to it.
I cvsuped my system to -current yesterday afternoon, to no avail. When I
extract diagnostics using sysctl hw.ath.debug=1, after a short, varying
interval, the machine locks up solid, although if quick enough, I can get
some debug messages out. I've attempted connecting with and without WEP,
with 11b mode, with set speeds, and so on, all with the same outcome. I've
checked for interference sources and also popped the WG311 into a Win2K box,
to which the WG511 associated in adhoc mode.
Included are a relevant excerpt of dmesg, output from athstats and
80211stats and the ifconfig ath0 output. I should relate an observation
that the OFDM PHY errors increase by about 4000 each half-second to a
second. I didn't observe the others, though several increase with each
athstats execution.
Any assistance that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
