Congratulations to everyone who made this possible, it seems that JDK 1.3.1 has been released as binary: http://www.freebsdfoundation.org/press/20030825-java131.shtml I have a question. Is the binary release the same as the 1.3.1p8_2 port? If I have that installed on a production server should I be looking at upgrading to the binary? I am also curious; the release said > "The Foundation is now financing efforts to accelerate the completion of [JDK 1.4.1]." Does that mean that there are programmers being paid for their skills to complete this? Who are they? Personally I think it is great that money can be found to implement such core functionality in non-glamorous areas of FreeBSD, and make sure that someone works on it other than in their spare time between midnight and 3am. I hope Sun is contributing to this effort.
