The kernel is not updated with every patch level, but freebsd-version
does show the current version:

$ uname -r
10.2-RELEASE-p24
$ freebsd-version -k
10.2-RELEASE-p24
$ freebsd-version
10.2-RELEASE-p28

Was there a kernel update you expected to see between 11.0 p2 and p6?
