Sparse or not? etc. The VM in particular, its disk settings? How is the disk being presented to the VM? AHCI or nvme. If it isn't obvious, I'm focusing particularly on the disks as I believe the answer lies therein. Also, I don't particularly care about cross posting to multiple lists but I'll mention it because it ruffles feathers. ~Paul --=20 __________________ :(){ :|:& };: --00000000000096af2e05fbfbbcde Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr">

<div dir=3D"ltr">

<div class=3D"gma= il_quote"><div dir=3D"ltr" class=3D"gmail_attr">On Thu, May 18, 2023 at 1:4= 9=E2=80=AFPM Aryeh Friedman <<a href=3D"mailto:aryeh.friedman@gmail.com"= >aryeh.friedman@gmail.com> wrote:

<blockquote class=3D"gmai= l_quote" style=3D"margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,20= 4,204);padding-left:1ex">I have a host (brand new replacement machine.... b= uilt yesterday OS
installed today) running 12.4 w/ 12 cores and 32 GB of RAM that took
1:30 hrs to do "make DESDIR=3D/ world kernel" but=C2=A0 the first= VM I made
(4 cores 8 GB of RAM) took only 1 hr?!?!?!?

--
Aryeh M.
