I've been trying to figure the problem with webkit2-gtk3 these past few days; but with little success so far. My assumption is that Eclipse with webkit2-gtk3 2.24 works with Linux (and I can see from the PR that it does), and so there _should_ be some simple switch that may have been missed in the port; but unfortunately, I have yet to find it.
