Hello, Thank you for your answer. I use a ECS KN3-SLI2 motherboard with AMD 64-X2 4200 Jmicron JMB363 and AMD= nForce 590sli fakeraid controllers. I've build 2 RAID arrays : . 1 RAID 1 for system on Jmicron chip, with 2 maxtor/seagate 80 GB disks=0D . 1 RAID 5 for data on nForce chip, with 3 maxtor/seagate 250 GB disks= (~450 GB data) I tried Vista before, just to see compatibility, all was OK. I installed linux debian etch ok, but impossible to install a boot loader. I installed FreeeBSD 6.2-RELEASE : The install process detects all disks even nForce's ones, but it detects= only Jmicron RAID array as 'ar0'. I suppose that nForce's one would take= the device 'ar1'. (That makes me think that perhaps kernel does recognize only one array at a= time, but I cannot believe that, it's of no sense). I installed FreeBSD on RAID 1 array, it worked perfectly. So I thought I= could compile the kernel to take account of RAID 5 array (the same process= for installing linux), but I didn't see in kernel config a driver for= nForce 590sli and I saw in a faq (perhaps obsolet) that only up to nForce= 4 is supported. I'm a bit out of new solutions. If you have any idea ... =0D Jean-Pierre Mouill=E9 DT/DPP/SC 01.55.22.27.57 jmouille.ext@orange-ftgroup.com P please consider the environment - do you really need to print this email?= =0D -----Message d'origine----- De : Thomas Sparrevohn [mailto:Thomas.Sparrevohn@btinternet.com]=0D Envoy=E9 : jeudi 29 mars 2007 23:44 =C0 : MOUILLE Jean Pierre Ext OF/DT; freebsd-hackers@freebsd.org Objet : RE: NVIDIA FreeBSD kernel feature requests That is puzzling - I running using on a Nvidia Nforce 590 SLI based machine= with no problems using Raid - Mind you this Dell implementation uses only= Raid0 - What release are you running? - I have had success With both 6.2,= 7.0-Current and AMD-6.2 and AMD-7.0 - On the 64bit there was issues with= the USB - which has been and there was some issues with SATA CD drives all= of which is fixed > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-freebsd-hackers@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-=0D > hackers@freebsd.org] On Behalf Of MOUILLE Jean Pierre Ext OF/DT > Sent: 29 March 2007 10:55 > To: freebsd-hackers@freebsd.org > Subject: NVIDIA FreeBSD kernel feature requests >=0D >=0D > Hello, >=0D >=0D > Do you plan for a driver for nForce 590sli RAID controller on FreeBSD ? > The disks are recognized but not the RAID arrays. >=0D > On Motherboard ECS KN3-SLI2, JMicron JMB363 driver is already included=0D > in FreeBSD 6.2 (ar0) but in kernel, it goes up to nForce 4. > Perhaps have you got later information ? >=0D >=0D >=0D >=0D > Jean-Pierre Mouill=E9 > ORANGE-FRANCE/DT/DPP/SC > 01.55.22.27.57 > jmouille.ext@orange-ftgroup.com > P please consider the environment - do you really need to print this=0D > email? >=0D >=0D >=0D >=0D >=0D > ********************************* > This message and any attachments (the "message") are confidential and=0D > intended solely for the addressees.
