1/ It seems to me that sendmail really needs to resolve names through DNS (for more info www.sendmail.org / or the book by Allman at O'Reilly and Associates - I don't have any here ...) 2/ rc.conf must contain a fully qualified name (used by the system to infer the DNS domain) TfH ____________________________ Séparateur Réponse ________________________________ Objet : Rép : Re: Rép : Sendmail Problem? So it knows this is the local adress? That would be my solution.... Another REALLY basic question..... In rc.conf, do I have to enter only the local hostname (e.g. "ripley") or the fu ll qulified domain name (e.g. "ripley.prevezanos.com"). I am a bit confused beca use on our IRIX6.2-boxes I just enter "ripley". If I do so in FreeBSD sendmail tells me illegal hostname.
