It's a ps/2 mouse. Configured by /stand/sysinstall.
When I login as root the curser moves around when
the mouse moves around.

Looks pretty normal... Assuming you do actually have a working PS/2
mouse. When you move the mouse, does a mouse cursor appear when logged
in to a local console? Is moused actually running? (ps -ax | grep
moused) Also verify that /dev/psm0 exists (ls -l /dev/psm0).

That, and you still haven't told us what kind of mouse you have, so I
have absolutely no idea if /dev/psm0 is the right device for you. :-)

Of course it "should", assuming your mouse is supported, and you're
using the correct device, and the device exists, etc, etc.
