I reinstalled FreeBSD completely for the 10th or so time, each time using different options. I finally got it working with what was basically default configuration for everything. Thanks anyway though. I have another question that you might know the answer to, which I think is a little easier. As I said, I could only get everything to work when I did default configurations for everything. However, I want to use GNOME, not the default window manager that comes with XFree86. I was able to change it using the /stand/sysinstall utility, but I can only run that as root. The problem is the changes only take effect for the currently logged in user. As a result, I have GNOME for root, but not for my unprivileged user. Do you have any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated. Sounds lke your mouse configuration for X may not be correct.
