This weekend I just set up a machine that was using an NE2000+ with 2.1.0-072695. It was a little slow [2-3 hours] coming off of ftp.freebsd.org, but other than that it worked great. It was configured for ed1. The emergency holographic shell was AMAZING. It was great to actually be using the machine to telnet out and such WHILE it was installing. [Start other FTPs, etc]. While X was installing I had about 12 open sessions to different FTP sites [wuarchive, others] downloading ports and such and compiling them. I had a great deal of overall bandwidth but very little to any one site. I had 4 hard drive lights on CONTINUOUSLY. Nothing blinked. Something that might be nice for future installation programs [though the new one has made worlds of improvement] is graceful handling of a too-little disk space situation. I tried installing on a 200MB paritition and all hell broke lose. One other thing that seemed broken [I could be wrong] when setting up the disk labels, I tried hitting the "W" command, said, "install boot manager" and the system died. I could flip through consoles, but nothing happened. I had to quit and then "commit" to proceed. [Maybe that is by design, but then the "W" prompt should be removed]. Lots of great cosmetic work though! -Jerry. > I've looked through the configuration and everything seems to be setup > correctly.
