I'm under the impression the computer's name is Akia.  Who makes the
Ethernet card? IS it repackaged by Akia or what?

Yes, but they probably aren't compatible with yours.

That is a good thing, actually; I've had a hell of a time getting Win95
machines with CardBus to pick up Ethernet cards.
