No, I don't. While trying to get the thing working, I can ping myself from
other hosts and get the proper replies, as well as ping myself from my own
machine.

icmpinfo is a handy little program that sits in the background and watches
for icmp "pings" or echo requests. When working properly, any time anyone
pings you, it reports the time, host, packet size, etc. Nice for IRC'ers
who may be subjected to the "ping flood" DOS attack. It is distributed
with FreeBSD in /usr/ports/net/icmpinfo.
