Have you tried:
cat audio.au > /dev/audio2 

When it says pcm2, then all your sound devices should end with a 2.
You may have to do a soft link for each sound device.

For example, 
ln -s /dev/audio2 /dev/audio

This way, those programs which use the default /dev/audio will work
