Although my Digital HiNote has a Cirrus Logic chipset, I'd suggest upgrading to 2.2.7; it got my 3c589b working. Before it would config the card but the card wouldn't send or receive packets. Poppped it in after the post-upgrade kernel build and viola, I could ping the network!
