I have been trying for the last 6 hours or so to get a serial console working on a 3.1-Release and a 3.1-Stable boxes. I have never had a problem in 2.x days to get them working by placing the options COMCONSOLE options FORCE_COMCONSOLE lines into the kernel config.. On the 2 new machines I know the serial ports are working and being recognized.. Has something changed between 2.x and 3.1 that will not allow the ttyd0 device in tty to spawn login?? if I set it to cuaa0 it seems to work fine spawns login ect.. I have complied re-compiled the kernel and bootloader and I am getting the bootloader on the console but after the kernel starts to boot it goes back to VGA.....(I have -h set in boot.config (and I have tried ever other variation) I have the 0x20 set on my sio line in my kernel config file.. I am at a major loss... I have read everything I can to get this information..I have search list archives ect.. Any ideas?? Thank You. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- James D.
