First, to insure that those responsible hear from more than just those
who had problems (after all, if you didn't have problems, you don't
ask for help, right :-), I'd like to state that my upgrade from a
pre-ELF kernel (3.0-RELEASE) to 3.1-STABLE went just fine with a "make
ugprade" and a "disklable -B da0". My

The problems started *after* I got the new system up. :-(

1) I decided to remake the stuff in /dev."sh MAKEDEV all" didn't
make da0s1a and friends. This means that after booting single
   user, I couldn't "mount -u /", cause that device wasn't there. To
add insult to injury, I'm using a "dangerously dedicated" drive so
da0a is what's really mounted, but that isn't what the kernel
reports. Out comes the fixit disk.

2) The new lpt0 driver doesn't seem to work - it says "device not
configured" when I try sending text at it. From the config file:

	# Parallel port - builds, but doesn't work, so...
device ppc0	at isa? port? net irq 7
	controller	ppbus0
	device lpt0	at ppbus?
controller	ppc0	at isa? disable port ? tty irq 7

   and from dmesg:

	ppc0 at 0x378 irq 7 on isa
ppc0: Generic chipset (NIBBLE-only) in COMPATIBLE mode
	ppb0: IEEE1284 device found /NIBBLE
Probing for PnP devices on ppbus0:
	ppbus0: <Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet 5MP> HP ENHANCED PCL5,PJL,POSTSCRIPT

3) /stand didn't seem to get updated. How do I go about building this?
Checking the handbook, the FAQ, the src tree and the FTP site all
   turn up nothing.

	Thanx,
	<mike
