Geoff, isn't it true that the largest fraction of folks having this problem simply have got their interrupts in their machines set in such a way that there are 2 (or more) devices on IRQ 7? It's almost always a music card doing it, too (although I saw one network card that defaulted to IRQ 7 on install also). People refuse to believe that they can't have more than one card using an IRQ, and so they have this problem. To be honest, although I'm sure that *some* folks having the slow printing problem don't have IRQ 7 mis-set, I haven't seen one real case where it wasn't that, yet.
