I am having a bit of a problem installing FreeBSD 2.2.6 I have a 486 AMD 100, with 32 megs of ram, and a Buslogic 946c controller BIOS revision 4.96F. The IRQ on the PCI Slot is 11, and the IO address when I boot BSD and configure the kernel is 330 I cannot seem to format the disk, an IBM model. I get random lockups when the newfs starts and not necassarily on the root partition either....sometimes it locks up during the newfs for usr. I have tried moving the card to another PCI slot, and mucking about in the configuration of the card, even to go so far as to choose "safe mode" factory configuration.... I have been able to successfully format and copy data to the disk in DOS mode, although I ahve not treied to use it under wondows 95 just yet.....I am about to do so. I have searched the mailing list archives, and cannot seem to find any one thing that sticks out as far as the 946c is concerned....some odd stuff about motherboards...but this was a case of the card not coming up at all, mine works for configuration and what not. I think that I am just, perhaps, missing something in the adapter configuration fo kernel config... Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Bob ccrider@whiterose.net Systems Administrator for whiterose.net http://www.whiterose.net To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
