I'm trying to set up a HP P1000 Photosmart printer on a 4.0-R system so
that it is accessable for photo printing over our network. The printer
shows up just fine on the initial boot:
ppc0: <Parallel port> at port 0x378-0x37f irq 7 on isa0
ppc0: Generic chipset (NIBBLE-only) in COMPATIBLE mode
ppbus0: IEEE1284 device found /NIBBLE/ECP
Probing for PnP devices on ppbus0:
ppbus0: <HEWLETT-PACKARD PHOTOSMART P1000> MLC,PCL,PML
plip0: <PLIP network interface> on ppbus0
lpt0: <Printer> on ppbus0
lpt0: Interrupt-driven port
ppi0: <Parallel I/O> on ppbus0
But when I try to print a test page after adding the printer to an NT box
it fails.
My /etc/printcap looks like:
P1000|HP Photosmart:\
:sh:\
:lp=/dev/lpt0:sd=/var/spool/output/lpd:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:
I've tried installing and setting up apsfilter but the P1000 is not
supported through that port.
Is there any way for me to bind what has been found on ppbus0 into my
printcap? Is that what I need to do?
